Limewash is a traditional, natural finish that is made from slaked lime and pigments. It is applied in thin layers to the brick, and it reacts with the brick to create a unique, chalky finish that can be tinted with pigments. Limewash is breathable, meaning it allows moisture to pass through the brick, which can help prevent damage to the brick and mortar.

Staining, on the other hand, is a more modern approach that involves applying a brick stain or gel to the brick to change its color. Stains are typically more opaque than limewash, and they do not change the texture of the brick.

Staining can be a good option if you want to change the color of your brick without altering its texture or if you want a more consistent color. It is important to note that Limewash is not as durable as staining, so it may require more frequent reapplication to maintain the desired look.

To learn more about brick staining, read our blog “Brick Staining: A Guide to Changing Your Brick Color“[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”91184″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/4″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Learn How to DIY Faux Brick Design Concrete Wall with Stencils[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/QpIPCE-m8Jc” align=”center”][vc_single_image image=”86946″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”https://directcolors.com/diy/faux-brick-wall-concrete-stencil-design/”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/4″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”97639″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”https://directcolors.com/contest/”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″ offset=”vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/4″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”93135″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/4″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1674953892518{margin-top: 0px !important;border-top-width: 0px !important;padding-top: 0px !important;}”] Limewash vs Painted Brick By Jon Bastian[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/4″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1674953935908{margin-top: 0px !important;border-top-width: 0px !important;padding-top: 0px !important;}”]If you’ve never worked with limewash, you may only know it from Tom Sawyer, where the hero famously tricks his friends into …

Continue reading “How to Limewash Brick”

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1422,12121,12111,12101
12055,12061,12067,12063,12058,12059,12051,12062,12060,12056,12053,12052,12066,12064,12065,12068,12069,12054,12057
post-93072","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-design-by-project","category-guides","category-pavers-exterior","category-theme","tag-before-and-after-limewash-brick","tag-brick-limewash","tag-brick-stain-vs-limewash","tag-dark-gray-limewash-brick","tag-gray-limewash-brick","tag-how-to-limewash-brick","tag-limewash-brick","tag-limewash-brick-before-and-after","tag-limewash-brick-colors","tag-limewash-brick-exterior","tag-limewash-brick-fireplace","tag-limewash-brick-house","tag-limewash-brick-houses","tag-limewash-exterior-brick","tag-limewash-red-brick","tag-limewash-vs-brick-stain","tag-limewash-vs-staining-brick","tag-limewashed-brick","tag-limewashing-brick

How to Limewash Brick

<meta name="description" content="Transform your brick with a DIY limewash guide.
