Concrete Stamp Release Agent
Every stamped concrete project needs a release agent between the stamp mats and the wet concrete — without one, the tools stick to the surface, tearing the pattern and ruining the finish. Direct Colors offers two professional-grade concrete stamp release agents, each designed for a different project workflow. The right choice depends on whether you want the release agent to add color during stamping or leave the surface clean for staining after the concrete cures.
ColorBomb™ Colored Stamp Release Powder — The traditional approach for stamped concrete. A colored powder that you broadcast onto wet concrete before stamping. It prevents the stamp tools from sticking while adding accent color that settles into the recessed areas of the stamp pattern — creating the dimensional contrast between high points and low points that gives stamped concrete its signature antique look. Available in 6 professional colors (Buff, Cocoa, Graphite, Harvest Gold, Pewter, Platinum). Sold in 30 lb pails covering 800–1,000 sq ft. Choose ColorBomb™ when you want color and release in one step.
NoStick™ Colorless Liquid Release Agent — The release agent for stamped concrete that will be stained or color-sealed after curing. A clear liquid that you mist onto the stamp mats and concrete surface before stamping. It prevents tool adhesion, then evaporates completely without leaving any color or residue on the concrete. This leaves the cured surface clean and ready to accept topical stains or colored sealers with no interference from release agent residue underneath. Sold in 5 gallon containers covering 750–1,250 sq ft. Choose NoStick™ when the project plan calls for post-stamp staining.
Not sure which you need? The decision is simple. If the stamped concrete gets its color during the pour (from the release powder settling into the pattern), choose ColorBomb™. If the stamped concrete gets its color after curing (from a stain or colored sealer applied to the finished surface), choose NoStick™.
Both products are manufactured by Direct Colors in the USA and have been the professional standard on residential and commercial stamped concrete projects for over 25 years.
