The Colorless Release Agent for Stamped Concrete That Will Be Stained After Stamping

NoStick™ is a professional-grade, colorless liquid release agent for stamped concrete. It prevents stamp mats and texturing tools from sticking to wet concrete during the stamping process — the same essential function as a traditional powder release agent — but with one critical difference: NoStick™ evaporates completely without leaving any color or residue on the concrete surface.

This makes NoStick™ the right release agent for stamped concrete projects where the color will be added after the concrete has cured — using a topical stain, colored sealer, or other post-stamp coloring method. If the project plan calls for staining or sealing the stamped concrete after it has cured, using a colorless release agent is essential. Colored powder release leaves pigment on the concrete surface that can interfere with the bond between the concrete and the topical stain or sealer applied later. NoStick™ eliminates this problem entirely by leaving a clean, residue-free surface once it evaporates.

NoStick™ is a liquid that you mist onto both the stamp mats and the concrete surface just before placing the mats. The liquid creates a lubricating barrier that prevents adhesion, protects the stamp tools, and evaporates after the stamping is complete — leaving the concrete clean and ready for whatever comes next.

When to Choose NoStick™ Liquid Release Instead of Powder Release

The decision between liquid and powder release is straightforward:

Choose NoStick™ liquid release when:

  • The stamped concrete will be stained after curing (with a topical stain like Antiquing™ or a colored sealer like EasyTint™ or AcquaTint™)
  • You want a completely clean concrete surface with no residue after stamping
  • The project is interior where powder drift and cleanup are impractical
  • You want to apply a custom color treatment after stamping rather than relying on release powder color

Choose ColorBomb™ powder release when:

  • You want the release agent to also add accent color to the stamped concrete during the pour
  • The traditional colored-powder-in-the-recesses look is the desired finish
  • The project does not plan for post-stamp staining

Most stamped concrete projects use colored powder release. NoStick™ is the specialty product for the subset of stamped concrete projects where post-stamp staining or coloring is part of the plan. It's a smaller market, but for those projects, a colorless release is essential — not optional.

What NoStick™ Liquid Release Agent Is Used For

Stamped concrete that will be stained after curing — The primary use case. When the project plan calls for staining the stamped concrete with a topical stain after the concrete has cured (typically Antiquing™ or a similar stamped concrete stain), the release agent must be colorless and residue-free. NoStick™ delivers exactly that.

Stamped concrete that will be sealed with a colored sealer — When the color will come from a colored sealer (like EasyTint™ or AcquaTint™) applied after the concrete has cured, NoStick™ ensures the sealer bonds to clean concrete with no release agent residue underneath.

Interior stamped concrete — Indoor stamped concrete projects (sunrooms, enclosed patios, commercial interiors) where powder drift, cleanup, and dust are impractical. The liquid format eliminates the airborne powder issue entirely.

Stamped concrete with custom color treatments — High-end residential and commercial projects where the designer or contractor plans a specific post-stamp color treatment that requires a clean concrete surface. NoStick™ provides the clean canvas.

Any stamped concrete project where a clean, residue-free surface matters — Even when post-stamp staining isn't planned, some contractors prefer a colorless release for its clean evaporation and minimal cleanup compared to powder release.

How NoStick™ Works

NoStick™ is a clear liquid that creates a lubricating barrier between wet concrete and stamp tools. When misted onto the stamp mats and the concrete surface, it prevents adhesion without transferring any color or leaving any residue. After the stamping is complete, the liquid evaporates — leaving the concrete surface exactly as it was, with no film, no color, and no residue to clean up or remove before the next step in the project.

The evaporation is what distinguishes NoStick™ from powder release. Powder release leaves pigment on the surface (which is desirable when you want accent color, but problematic when you plan to stain after stamping). NoStick™ leaves nothing behind.

How to Use NoStick™ Liquid Release Agent

Full step-by-step instructions ship with the product. Overview:

  1. Prepare the concrete. The surface should be freshly troweled to the desired smoothness and at a "plastic" state — ready for stamping. No bleed water present. Apply when temperatures are between 50°F and 95°F.
  2. Protect surrounding areas from overspray.
  3. Load NoStick™ into a solvent sprayer (with the filter removed).
  4. Liberally mist NoStick™ onto both the stamp mats and the concrete surface in the area about to be stamped. Focus on approximately 10-15 square feet at a time to prevent evaporation before the mats are placed.
  5. Apply NoStick™ just before placing the mats — the liquid should still be wet on both surfaces when the mat goes down. If you spray too far ahead, the liquid may evaporate before the mats are placed, defeating the purpose.
  6. Stamp the concrete using your texturing mats and tools as normal.
  7. Reapply NoStick™ as necessary — especially on dry or windy days where evaporation is faster. Maintain a lubricating layer between the concrete surface and the texturing tools at all times.
  8. Never trowel or mix NoStick™ into the concrete surface. If adjustments or corrections are needed, use the texturing tools to press out unwanted impressions directly.
  9. After stamping, allow the concrete to cure. NoStick™ will evaporate on its own without leaving residue. No powder cleanup required.
  10. Seal the stamped concrete after curing. For a colorless seal, use a clear sealer. For color, apply a topical stain or colored sealer to the now-clean stamped surface.

⚠ Important: Apply Just Before Placing Mats

NoStick™ is a liquid that evaporates. If you spray it onto the concrete and then wait too long before placing the stamp mats, the liquid will evaporate and you'll lose the release barrier. Always spray the area and place the mats immediately — work in small sections (10-15 sq ft at a time) and keep the workflow moving. On hot, dry, or windy days, evaporation is faster, so reapply as necessary.

NoStick™ Coverage and Sizing

NoStick™ is sold in 5 gallon containers. Estimated coverage is approximately 150-250 square feet per gallon, or 750-1,250 square feet per 5-gallon container. Actual coverage depends on how liberally you apply (NoStick™ should be applied liberally for proper release), wind and temperature conditions (which affect evaporation rate and how often you need to reapply), and the porosity of the concrete surface.

PPE and Safety

NoStick™ contains petroleum distillates and is combustible. During application:

  • Work in a well-ventilated area
  • Wear a mask, safety glasses, and chemical-resistant gloves
  • Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames
  • Store in a cool, dry place with the container tightly sealed
  • Do not breathe fumes

Clean tools and spills with soap and water.
