Preliminary Testing

Before using the product for your entire project, try it out on a small, hidden area of the surface you'll be working on. This will let you see how it looks and if it's the right fit for your project.

1 . Pre-Application

Step 1 - Clean & Dry : Sweep the floor to remove loose dirt and debris. Proceed to mop thoroughly, ensuring all dirt is removed. If old wax is present, it must be removed. The floor must be completely clean before proceeding.

After cleaning, the floor must be fully dry before applying the polish. If the floor was wet during the cleaning process, allow it to dry for 24 hours to ensure no moisture remains

Step 2 - Reapplication on Previously Waxed Floors: For floors that have been previously waxed and now display a cloudy or hazy appearance, it's necessary to strip the floor. Use ProWax Remover™ to eliminate old wax and finish thoroughly before reapplying wax. Refer to the ProWax Remover™ Technical Data Sheet for detailed instructions.

Step 3 - Temperature: For optimal results, apply ProWax™ in temperatures ranging from 60°F (15°C) to 95°F (35°C).

Application should ideally occur in the early evening when air and surface temperatures are cooling, and the sun is no longer directly overhead. To prevent bubbling and hazing, avoid application during the morning or midday.

Step 4 - Sound: Apply only to cement-based products that are not flaking or spalling. The substrate must be structurally sound. For surfaces showing signs of delamination, employ diamond grinding, shot blasting, or similar mechanical methods for removal.

Step 5 - Profiled: Perform an absorption test to check if the concrete is ready for staining. Pour water onto the concrete surface and wait for 3-5 minutes.

If the water is not absorbed, the surface will need to be cleaned and etched with CitrusEtch™ to open the pores of the concrete. Detailed instructions can be found in the CitrusEtch™ Technical Data Sheet.

Note: Poorly finished, broomed, or very old surfaces may absorb ColorWave® more deeply, leading to less visiblecolor.

IMPORTANT: Use spiked shoes when etching. If shoe prints are etched onto the concrete surface, you will need to usea mechanical grinder to removethem.

2 . Preparation

When applying, be aware that odors can be strong. Ensure the area is properly ventilated during application to maintain a safe and comfortable working environment.
Plan the work area in manageable sections, utilizing natural break points such as walls and joints to avoid discrepancies in application. Maintain control of wet edges to reduce overlap marks.
Area Preparation: Protect surfaces not intended for sealing by covering surrounding areas to prevent accidental application.
Avoid using tape on concrete surfaces before or after sealing, as adhesives and plasticizers can interfere with thestain's effectiveness.

3 . Application

Applying with pump sprayer

Apply AcquaSeal™ in circular motions to ensure even coverage. It is important to apply thin layers to avoid puddling and ensure uniform drying.

Start and stop spraying into a bucket or off the work area to prevent drips. Back roll afterwards to smooth out any puddles or overlaps, maintaining a thin, even layer.

If you need to walk on the sealed area, use spiked shoes to avoid disturbing the wet sealer and maintain a smooth application.

Applying with roller

Use a ⅜” nap roller with a solvent-resistant core. Allow the roller's weight to apply the product without adding extra pressure, which could cause streaks and uneven coverage. Focus on applying thin, consistent layers.

Before adding more product to the paint tray, shake the bottle for even consistency.

4 . Drying & Recoating

Dry Time Between Coats: Allow at least 2 hours between coats, depending on temperature, humidity, and airflow.

Testing Dryness: To check if the surface is ready for the next coat, press it with a thumbnail. If the surface doesn't dent or scratch, it is sufficiently dry for recoating.

Coat Application: Ensure the first coat is thoroughly dry before applying a second thin coat. The emphasis on thin coats is crucial for achieving the best finish and performance.

Second Coat: Make sure the first coat is completely dry before applying the second. Rushing this step can affect the finish.

Recommended Coats: Two thin coats are advised for best performance and durability.

Application Caution: Avoid applying too heavily. Thick coats can cause bubbling, hazing, roller lines, or other surface imperfections. Use light, even pressure when rolling, especially when spreading out excess sealer.

Foot Traffic: Keep the area free from foot traffic for at least 24 hours to allow the topcoat to properly set.

Vehicle Traffic: Avoid vehicle traffic for 48-72 hours to ensure the sealer fully cures and offers maximum protection.

For Indoor Projects

To enhance durability and extend the life of the sealer protecting the stain, consider applying an additional coat of ProWax Polish™ after thesealer has fully cured.

Additional Information

Coverage

Estimated coverage is approximately 200 square feet (18.58 m²) per gallon. Actual coverage rates may diff er based on factors such as surface porosity, texture, the age and condition of the concrete, chosen application method, and prevailing environmental conditions.

Surface Protection and Maintenance

FOR EXTERIOR SURFACES:

● Regularly inspect sealed areas for signs of thinning or wear due to foot or vehicular traffic. Reapply the sealer as needed to maintain protection and appearance.

FOR INTERIOR SURFACES:

● Regularly examine surfaces coated with ProWax Polish™ for wear or thinning, especially in high-traffic areas. Reapply the coating as necessary to preserve the surface's integrity and aesthetics.

Suitability Sample

Prior to application, prepare a sufficient number of test areas on the actual substrate to determine the aesthetic suitability of the product for its intended use.

Limitation & Precautions

Batch Variability: The supply of specialized pigments may vary between batches. To ensure color consistency, use the same batch for the entire job or mix multiple batches together ("boxing").
Surface Compatibility: AcquaSeal™ may experience adhesion challenges when applied to hard-troweled (machine-smoothed) surfaces or surfaces whose pores are smaller than the sealer's particles. This can result in the sealer drying without proper adhesion.
Avoid Liquid Contact During Curing: Prevent any liquids, including sweat, from coming into contact with the uncured coating, as this can affect both the curing process and the quality of the finish.
Wear and Tear: As with all water-based acrylic sealers, AcquaSeal™ is subject to surface wear. Its longevity and durability are contingent upon proper application to a suitably prepared surface, and will also depend on the volume and type of traffic.

Slip Resistance

● AcquaSeal™ Gloss can be more slippery compared to Satin finish.

For enhanced slip resistance on exterior surfaces, integrate OxiGrip™ into the sealer. Ensure you obtain and review the appropriate Technical Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet prior to using this product.

Disposal

For the disposal of any unused product, please refer to your local environmental or hazardous waste management authority to ensure compliance with local regulations.

Shelf Life & Storage

AcquaSeal™ should be used within one year of purchase for optimal effectiveness. For storage, keep the product indoors, in a cool area away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
