ProClean Neutralizer™

ProClean Neutralizer™ serves two important functions: it neutralizes acid stain residue after the staining chemical reaction is complete, and it cleans the surface in preparation for sealing. After acid staining with EverStain™, the neutralizer stops the chemical reaction and removes the colored residue left on the surface, revealing the true stained color underneath.

After the acid stain has fully reacted (typically 2-4 hours), saturate the stained surface with ProClean Neutralizer™. Gently scrub it into the concrete using a soft nylon bristle brush while wearing spiked shoes. Let it sit for about 20 minutes to ensure proper neutralization. Then reapply and scrub again, rinsing with clean water until the rinse water runs clear. A shop vac helps remove excess water during this process.

After scrubbing and rinsing, swipe your fingers across the cleaned surface. If you don't see any color or residue on your fingers, the surface is properly neutralized and ready for drying. If residue remains, repeat the scrubbing and rinsing process until the rinse water is clear and no residue transfers to your fingers.

While a baking soda and water solution can technically neutralize acid stain, it creates significantly more residue that is cumbersome to clean up. The reaction between baking soda and the etching solution can create a significant amount of residue that needs to be thoroughly vacuumed or removed to ensure it does not hinder the staining process. ProClean Neutralizer™ is specifically formulated for easier application, cleaner results, and minimal cleanup.

Yes! After etching your concrete with CitrusEtch™, you should neutralize the surface with ProClean Neutralizer™ using a similar sprayer setup. This ensures the etching solution is fully neutralized and all residue is removed before proceeding with staining or sealing. Rinse thoroughly after neutralization.
