Color, Seal, and Protect Interior Concrete Floors — Everything in One Kit

The AcquaTint™ Interior Seal & Polish System is a complete kit for interior concrete floors that pairs 1 gallon of AcquaTint™ Colored Concrete Sealer in your color choice with 1 gallon of ProWax Polish™ in your choice of Satin or Gloss finish. Together, these give you everything you need to color, seal, and protect approximately 200 square feet of interior concrete — a living room, kitchen, basement, sunroom, retail space, or any indoor concrete floor where you want lasting color with a low-maintenance protective finish. This is the kit Direct Colors recommends for every interior concrete floor project. AcquaTint™ colors and seals the concrete in one step.
ProWax Polish™ goes on top as a sacrificial protective layer that shields the color finish from daily foot traffic, furniture scuffs, spills, and cleaning wear. When the ProWax layer eventually wears thin from use, you simply reapply a fresh coat of ProWax over the existing finish — no stripping, no resealing, no recoloring. The color underneath stays intact because the ProWax took the wear instead of the AcquaTint™.

The system ships with enough ProWax Polish™ for the initial application plus future maintenance touch-ups. One gallon of ProWax covers approximately 1,000 square feet per coat. Your 200 sq ft floor takes three coats, using about 0.6 gallon — leaving enough for two full maintenance coats later without reordering.

Why Interior Concrete Floors Need ProWax Polish™

AcquaTint™ colors and seals your concrete — but interior floors see daily foot traffic, furniture movement, spills, pet claws, dropped items, and the regular wear of living in a space. Over time, that wear gradually dulls and scuffs the sealed surface. On an exterior patio, this kind of wear is expected and blends in naturally. On an interior floor where you're looking at the surface every day, it shows.ProWax Polish™ solves this by acting as a sacrificial layer between the daily wear and your color finish. The polish sits on top of the cured AcquaTint™ and absorbs the foot traffic, scuffs, and abrasion that would otherwise hit the colored sealer directly. When the ProWax layer wears thin — typically after several months to a year of normal residential use, depending on traffic — you reapply a fresh coat of ProWax directly over the existing surface. No stripping. No resealing. No recoloring. Just a fresh coat of polish, and the floor looks like it did on day one. This is the same approach used on commercial concrete floors in retail stores, restaurants, and showrooms — a sacrificial wax or polish layer protects the finish and gets refreshed periodically rather than letting the finish itself take the wear.

Satin or Gloss: Choosing Your ProWax Finish

The Interior Seal & Polish System lets you choose between two ProWax Polish™ finishes. Both provide the same level of protection — the choice is purely aesthetic:

ProWax Polish™ Satin — A low-sheen, natural finish that's popular in modern and minimalist interiors. The concrete looks protected and rich without any reflective shine. Living rooms, lofts, contemporary kitchens, and any space where you want the concrete to look like polished concrete rather than a glossy coated surface.

ProWax Polish™ Gloss — A reflective, polished finish that adds visible shine to the floor. Popular in retail spaces, showrooms, restaurants, and traditional high-end residential interiors where a gleaming floor is part of the design. Also popular in basements and sunrooms where the extra light reflection brightens the space. Both finishes protect the AcquaTint™ color equally. Both reapply the same way. The only difference is how much sheen you see on the finished floor. Select your preference from the variant dropdown above.

What AcquaTint™ Does and How It Works

AcquaTint™ is a water-based colored concrete sealer that adds long-lasting color to concrete and seals the surface at the same time. One product. One application. Your concrete is colored and protected in a single step. The water-based formulation is low-VOC and low-odor — no solvent fumes. Follow the handling precautions on the product label.

AcquaTint™ cures to a satin finish and is available in a full range of colors, from warm earth tones to deep neutrals and accent colors. Two coats are required for full color saturation, and coverage is approximately 200 square feet per gallon at two coats.

AcquaTint™ is semi-transparent — it colors the concrete surface but will not hide cracks, stains, or blemishes. Existing surface character shows through the finish.

Test Colors Before You Commit

Direct Colors strongly recommends ordering the AcquaTint™ Trial System to test colors on your actual concrete before buying this system. Concrete age, porosity, surface finish, and existing color all affect how AcquaTint™ looks on your specific floor. Testing 3 colors costs a fraction of this system and ensures you choose a color you'll be happy living with every day.

How to Use the Interior Seal & Polish System

  1. Clean the concrete thoroughly. Use ProClean Degreaser™ to remove dirt, oils, and surface contamination. Rinse and allow to dry completely. If your concrete is currently sealed, painted, or coated, use Destiny™ Stripper first to remove the existing coating. Concrete must be clean, unsealed, and dry before AcquaTint™ is applied.
  2. Apply the first coat of AcquaTint™
with a plastic pump sprayer, foam brush, or ⅜" nap roller. Backrolling immediately after spraying is highly recommended — spraying without backrolling increases the risk of puddles, drips, and uneven color. Work in manageable sections, keeping a wet edge. AcquaTint™ dries to the touch in 30–60 minutes; wait at least 2 hours before the second coat and confirm with a thumbnail test — press firmly, and if no dent forms, you can recoat.
  3. Apply the second coat of AcquaTint™. Two coats deliver full color saturation and maximum surface protection. Apply the same way as the first coat.
  4. Allow AcquaTint™ to cure fully — typically 24 hours before the next step.
  5. Apply ProWax Polish™ (Satin or Gloss) over the fully cured AcquaTint™. Use a trim pad, foam mop with wringer, microfiber push mop, or lamb's wool mop — dampen the applicator in warm water and wring out all excess first. Apply thin, even coats with light pressure, allowing at least 30–45 minutes between coats. Apply 3 coats. Do not apply more than 4 coats in 24 hours. The floor accepts foot traffic 6–12 hours after the final coat and is ready for furniture at 24 hours.
  6. Save the remaining ProWax for future maintenance.
One gallon covers approximately 1,000 sq ft per coat — after three coats on your 200 sq ft project, you'll have enough left for two full maintenance coats. Store in a cool, dry place per the label instructions.

What This System Does Not Include

  • Surface prep chemicals — ProClean Degreaser™ and Destiny™ Stripper (if needed) are sold separately.
  • Application tools — Sprayers, rollers, brushes, and mop applicators are not included. Most homeowners and contractors already have these on hand.
  • More than 200 sq ft of AcquaTint™ coverage — For larger interior floors, see the AcquaTint™ Interior Professional System (1,000 sq ft).

What This System Is Designed For — and Not For

The Interior Seal & Polish System is built for indoor concrete floors only. ProWax Polish™ is an interior product — it's not engineered for outdoor weather exposure, UV, or rain. Do not use this system on exterior patios, driveways, or outdoor surfaces. For exterior concrete projects, use AcquaTint™ Colored Concrete Sealer on its own (no ProWax needed for exterior low-traffic surfaces) or with a clear water-based concrete sealer topcoat for high-traffic exterior applications.See AcquaTint™ on real customer projects — Browse the Direct Colors customer photo gallery to see AcquaTint™ applied to interior floors across the country.
