The OxiGrip™ 2-Step Anti-Slip Sealer System is a complete kit for sealing concrete and adding slip resistance in a single workflow. It pairs a clear acrylic concrete sealer with OxiGrip™ Anti-Slip Additive in matched quantities — so you can protect your concrete and give it the traction it needs for pool decks, outdoor stairs, ramps, wet-area walkways, and any surface where a sealed concrete finish would otherwise be dangerously slippery when wet.
Sealed concrete looks beautiful and lasts longer — but a clear acrylic sealer also makes the surface smooth, and a smooth sealed surface gets slick when it's wet. On a pool deck, a set of outdoor stairs, or a walkway that sees rain and irrigation, that slickness is a genuine safety hazard. The OxiGrip™ 2-Step System solves the problem at the source: the anti-slip additive is mixed directly into the sealer before application, so the slip resistance is built into the sealed finish itself — not a separate coating that wears off independently.
This system gives you everything you need in one order, in matched quantities, with the products already sorted out. Choose your sealer type and your project size, and you have a complete anti-slip sealing solution ready to apply.
Choose Your Sealer: Water-Based or Solvent-Based
The OxiGrip™ 2-Step System lets you choose which clear sealer is paired with the anti-slip additive. Both options deliver professional-grade protection — the right choice depends on your project:
HydroCryl™ Advanced Water-Based Acrylic Sealer — Low-VOC, low-odor, and easy water cleanup. Formulated for fast drying, strong adhesion, and hot tire resistance. Choose the HydroCryl™ version for residential pool decks, interior wet areas, screened patios, and any project where water-based sealer is preferred.
EasySeal Solvent-Based Acrylic Sealer — UV-stabilized for maximum long-term exterior durability. Choose the EasySeal version for high-traffic commercial ramps and entrances, exterior stairs in cold climates with freeze/thaw cycles, and any project where the toughest possible exterior performance is the priority.
Why a 2-Step System Instead of Buying the Products Separately
Matched quantities. The OxiGrip™ additive is portioned to exactly match the sealer in the kit — 3 oz of OxiGrip™ for 1 gallon of sealer, 16 oz for 5 gallons. You get the correct mixing ratio without measuring or guessing.
One order, one project. Everything you need to seal and add slip resistance ships together. No coordinating separate purchases, no discovering you have sealer but no additive halfway through the job.
Compatible chemistry guaranteed. OxiGrip™ mixes into clear acrylic sealer — both the water-based and solvent-based options in this system are clear acrylic sealers formulated to carry the additive properly. The system removes any compatibility guesswork.
Better value than buying separately. The system is priced below the cost of buying the clear sealer and the OxiGrip™ additive as individual products.
What This System Is Used For
Concrete pool decks — The most common application. Sealed concrete around a pool is beautiful but dangerously slick when wet. The OxiGrip™ 2-Step System seals the pool deck and builds in the traction that makes it safe for bare feet on a wet surface. Pool deck slip resistance is a building code requirement in many jurisdictions.
Outdoor concrete stairs and steps — Sealed concrete stairs become hazardous in rain, dew, or irrigation overspray. This system seals the stairs and adds the traction that makes the treads safe underfoot.
Ramps and ADA-compliant surfaces — Wheelchair ramps, accessibility ramps, and sloped walkways where slip resistance is both a safety requirement and often a code requirement.
Wet-area walkways — Paths near pools, fountains, spas, and sprinkler zones, and any outdoor concrete walkway that regularly gets wet.
Commercial entrances and entryways — Restaurant entrances, hotel walkways, retail storefronts, and any commercial concrete surface where foot traffic plus weather creates slip-and-fall liability.
Interior wet areas — Sealed concrete in mudrooms, laundry areas, commercial kitchens, and shower-adjacent surfaces where water on a sealed floor creates a slip hazard.
Garage floors — Sealed garage floors that get wet from rain runoff, snow melt, or car washing — especially in cold climates where tracked-in snow and ice melt make sealed concrete slick.
How the System Works
OxiGrip™ Anti-Slip Additive is an engineered mineral grit that mixes directly into clear acrylic sealer before application. When you apply the sealer, the grit particles embed in the cured sealer film — creating a textured, slip-resistant surface that's an integral part of the seal, not a separate topcoat that can wear away on its own.
The result is a sealed concrete surface that looks essentially the same as standard sealed concrete — clear finish, enhanced color, satin or gloss sheen — but with a subtle texture underfoot that provides reliable traction even when the surface is wet. The grit is fine enough that the surface doesn't feel rough or abrasive to bare feet, which is critical for pool deck applications.
OxiGrip™ Preserves the Sealer's Finish — Gloss Stays Glossy
A common problem with anti-slip additives is that they dull the sealer. Direct Colors tested competing anti-slip products and found that most of them matify the finish — a gloss sealer comes out looking satin, and a satin sealer comes out looking flat. The grit in those products is too coarse or too irregular, and it scatters light across the surface in a way that kills the sheen the sealer is supposed to deliver.
That's a real problem if you chose your finish on purpose. A gloss-sealed pool deck or showroom floor is glossy by design — the shine is part of the look. An anti-slip additive that quietly converts that gloss to a flat finish has changed the project without the customer agreeing to it.
OxiGrip™ is engineered to avoid this. The grit is manufactured to a fine, uniform particle size that provides reliable traction underfoot without scattering light or clouding the finish. Mix OxiGrip™ into a gloss sealer and the cured surface stays glossy. Mix it into a satin sealer and the surface keeps its satin sheen. The slip resistance is felt underfoot — not seen in a dulled, flattened finish.
This means you don't have to choose between a safe surface and the finish you want. With the OxiGrip™ 2-Step System, you get both: the traction your pool deck, stairs, or ramp needs, and the gloss or satin finish you selected when you chose your sealer.
How to Use the OxiGrip™ 2-Step System
Full step-by-step instructions ship with the product. Overview:
- Confirm the concrete is clean, dry, and ready for sealing. The surface must be free of dirt, oils, contamination, and loose material. If you've just stained the concrete, make sure the stain is fully cured before sealing.
- Pour the OxiGrip™ Anti-Slip Additive into the clear sealer. Add the full matched quantity (3 oz into 1 gallon, or 16 oz into 5 gallons) and stir thoroughly until the grit is evenly distributed throughout the sealer.
- Apply the first coat with a plastic pump sprayer, foam brush, or low-nap roller. Work in manageable sections, applying an even coat across the entire surface. Stir the sealer periodically during application — the grit settles to the bottom over time and needs to stay suspended for consistent traction across the whole surface.
- Allow the first coat to dry. Drying time depends on which sealer you chose — HydroCryl™ (water-based) typically dries 2–4 hours per coat; EasySeal (solvent-based) typically dries 4–6 hours per coat.
- Apply the second coat, stirring periodically as before. Two coats deliver full protection and even slip resistance.
- Allow to cure fully. Light foot traffic is typically acceptable after 24 hours; full use should wait 48–72 hours.
⚠ Important: Stir Throughout Application
The single most important technique with any anti-slip sealer is keeping the grit suspended. OxiGrip™ particles are heavier than the sealer and will settle to the bottom of the container if left undisturbed. If you don't stir periodically during application, the first sections you seal will have less grit and the last sections will have too much — producing uneven traction across the surface. Stir the sealer every few minutes throughout the job to keep the grit evenly distributed.
Adjusting the Slip Resistance Level
The matched OxiGrip™ quantity in this system (3 oz per gallon) delivers the standard level of slip resistance — a noticeable, reliable grip underfoot without a rough or abrasive feel, appropriate for most residential and commercial applications including barefoot pool deck use.
For applications that need maximum traction (commercial ramps, industrial walkways, ADA surfaces in high-rain climates), the standard ratio can be increased — though this system is portioned for the standard ratio. Always test on a small area first to confirm the texture and traction meet your expectations before sealing the full surface.
What This System Does Not Include
- Surface prep products — ProClean Degreaser™ for cleaning and Destiny™ Stripper for removing existing coatings are sold separately. The concrete must be clean, unsealed, and dry before this system is applied.
- Application tools — Sprayers, rollers, and brushes are not included.
- Stain or color — This system uses clear sealer. It seals and adds traction but does not add color. For colored concrete, stain the surface before applying this system, or use a colored sealer separately.
⚠ Important: This System Uses Clear Sealer
The OxiGrip™ 2-Step System pairs the anti-slip additive with a clear acrylic sealer. If your project also needs color, stain the concrete first and let it cure, then apply this system as the clear sealing-and-traction step over the stained surface. Do not attempt to add OxiGrip™ to a colored or tinted sealer — OxiGrip™ is formulated for clear acrylic sealers, which is exactly what this system provides.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is OxiGrip™ and how does it work?
What is OxiGrip™ and how does it work?
OxiGrip™ is a slip-resistant additive designed to be mixed into concrete sealers. The material provides coatings with abrasion resistance and non-slip grip that is comfortable to walk on. Due to its low density, OxiGrip™ stays suspended in even thin concrete sealers, making it effective for safety use on pool decks, patios, walkways, and other surfaces where slip resistance is needed.
Which sealers is OxiGrip™ compatible with?
Which sealers is OxiGrip™ compatible with?
OxiGrip™ can be added to both AcquaSeal™ (water-based) and EasySeal™ (solvent-based) clear sealers. It should only be added to the final clear coat of sealer, not to tinted sealers or to earlier coats. This ensures the slip-resistant texture is on the outermost layer of your sealed surface.
Should I add OxiGrip™ to every coat of sealer?
Should I add OxiGrip™ to every coat of sealer?
No. Add OxiGrip™ only to the final coat of sealer. This provides the slip-resistant texture on the top surface while allowing the underlying coats to bond smoothly to the concrete and stain. Adding it to earlier coats could affect adhesion between layers.
Can I use OxiGrip™ on indoor surfaces?
Can I use OxiGrip™ on indoor surfaces?
While OxiGrip™ is primarily designed for exterior surfaces like pool decks, patios, and walkways, it can be used indoors in areas where slip resistance is needed, such as entryways, laundry rooms, or garage floors. Keep in mind that the textured surface may be slightly more difficult to clean than a smooth sealed surface.
Will OxiGrip™ change the appearance of my sealer?
Will OxiGrip™ change the appearance of my sealer?
OxiGrip™ adds a subtle textured feel to the sealed surface but does not significantly alter the color or sheen of the sealer. The finish will still exhibit the satin or gloss characteristics of your chosen sealer, with the added benefit of a barefoot-friendly, non-slip texture.
