Walk on Wet Concrete Coatings Without Leaving Marks
These professional-grade spiked sandals let you walk across wet epoxy, concrete stain, concrete sealer, self-leveling compound, and any other wet floor coating without leaving footprints, shoe marks, or disturbed areas in the finish. The 3/4-inch spikes support your weight on narrow points instead of a flat sole, which means you can move across a freshly coated floor to reach corners, fix missed spots, or work your way out of a room — without ruining the finish you just applied.
If you've ever applied epoxy to a garage floor and realized you're trapped in a corner, or stained a concrete floor and can't reach the far wall without walking through the wet stain, spiked shoes are the solution. They're standard equipment for epoxy flooring installers, concrete staining contractors, and anyone applying a wet coating to a floor they also need to stand on.
These spiked sandals are made by Bon Tool and strap over any shoe you're already wearing — work boots, sneakers, whatever you have on. Adjustable straps accommodate any shoe size. Put them on before you start coating, walk freely across the wet surface throughout the job, and take them off when you're done.
For a faster on-and-off option with no straps or buckles, see the CreteClogs™ Spiked Shoes — slip-on spiked shoes that slide on and off instantly.
What Spiked Sandals Are Used For
Epoxy flooring — The most common use case. Epoxy floor coatings are applied to the entire surface of a room, and the installer needs to walk on the wet epoxy to spread it evenly, reach all edges, and back-roll for a uniform finish. Regular shoes leave visible footprints in wet epoxy that show through the cured finish. Spiked shoes are considered essential equipment by every professional epoxy flooring installer.
Concrete staining — When applying concrete stain to a floor, walking on the wet stain in regular shoes leaves visible prints that don't blend out. The prints are especially noticeable with acid stains, where the footprint pressure can affect how the chemical reaction develops. Spiked sandals let you move across the stained surface to reach every section of the room.
Concrete sealing — Wet concrete sealer shows footprints just as clearly as wet stain. Spiked sandals let you walk on the wet sealer to ensure full, even coverage and work your way out of the room.
Concrete etching — Walking on wet concrete etching solution in regular shoes etches your footprints permanently into the concrete surface. The acid in the solution reacts wherever shoe pressure is applied, leaving a visible pattern. Spiked sandals prevent this.
Self-leveling concrete and overlays — Self-leveling compounds require the installer to work across the wet surface. Spiked sandals let you move through the material without creating depressions or disturbing the self-leveling action.
Garage floor coatings — Whether you're applying epoxy, stain, sealer, or polyurea to a garage floor, spiked shoes are the difference between a clean professional finish and one with visible shoe marks.
Polyurethane and polyaspartic floor coatings — Any floor coating that you need to walk on while it's wet benefits from spiked sandals.

Why 3/4-Inch Spikes
The 3/4-inch spike height is the professional standard for floor coating work. It's tall enough to keep the sole of your shoe above the wet surface of most epoxy, stain, sealer, and overlay applications (typically 1/8" to 1/4" thick on the surface). It's also short enough to walk comfortably and maintain your balance — taller spikes would make the shoes unstable on a wet floor.
For thicker applications like heavy-build epoxy systems or deep self-leveling pours, confirm that 3/4-inch spikes provide enough clearance above the wet surface before starting.
Spiked Sandals vs. CreteClogs™: Which Is Right for You?
Direct Colors carries two spiked shoe options, both made by Bon Tool:
Spiked Sandals (this product) — Adjustable straps fit over any shoe. One size fits all. The budget-friendly option and the industry workhorse. If you're buying spiked shoes for the first time or use them occasionally, these are the right choice.
CreteClogs™ Spiked Shoes — Slip-on design with no straps, buckles, or adjustments. Slide on, slide off. Available in Large and X-Large. The premium option for contractors who use spiked shoes frequently and want the fastest on/off without fiddling with straps mid-job. Higher price point reflects the slip-on convenience.
Both products use the same spike height and work equally well on wet coatings. The decision is about convenience vs. cost — and how often you use them.
⚠ Spiked Shoes Are Not Optional for Floor Coating Work
Walking on wet floor coatings in regular shoes is the single most common mistake DIYers make on concrete floor projects — and it's the hardest to fix. Footprints in cured epoxy, stain, or sealer are permanent. There's no way to blend them out or touch them up once the coating has cured. The only fix is to strip the entire coating and start over.
Spiked shoes cost a fraction of the materials they protect. If you're spending money on epoxy, concrete stain, or sealer for a floor project, spiked sandals are the cheapest insurance you'll buy.
