The Antiquing™ 2-Step Professional Stamped Concrete Stain System is the contractor-scale stamped concrete stain kit for large jobs: full residential patios, multi-driveway projects, commercial outdoor flooring, hospitality venues, large pool decks, and any stamped concrete project covering up to 1,000 square feet. It includes 5 gallons of Antiquing™ Stamped Concrete Stain in your color choice and 5 gallons of matched concrete sealer .
This is the system Direct Colors recommends for working contractors, decorative concrete professionals, landscape companies, and serious DIYers tackling large-scale stamped concrete projects. The 5-gallon container size delivers the lowest per-square-foot cost in the Antiquing™ lineup and ensures color consistency across the entire job — critical for large stamped surfaces where multiple smaller batches risk visible color variation between sections.
Total coverage: approximately 1,000 square feet of standard stamped concrete.
Why Contractors Buy the Professional System
Lowest per-square-foot cost — Buying Antiquing™ in 5-gallon containers cuts the per-gallon price significantly compared to single-gallon orders. For any stamped concrete job over 400 sq ft, the Professional System is more economical than buying multiple 200 sq ft kits.
Color consistency across the entire job — Antiquing™ pigment can vary slightly from production lot to production lot. A 5-gallon container is one consistent batch, which means a 1,000 sq ft stamped patio stained from one container will have uniform color across the entire surface. Mixing multiple 1-gallon containers risks visible color shift between sections — especially noticeable on large stamped patios where the customer sees the whole surface at once.
One delivery, one job — Contractors don't have time to wait on backordered components mid-project. The Professional System ships every chemical needed for a 1,000 sq ft stamped concrete stain in one shipment.
The right sealer at the right scale — The sealer is matched to Antiquing™ and shipped in the same 5-gallon format. No mismatched products, no guessing how much sealer to order.
Why Sealer Is Required Even at Contractor Scale
The 2-step requirement isn't a feature of the small kits — it's a feature of how Antiquing™ stain works. The pigment is bonded to the concrete by the sealer, period. This is true at every scale, from a 200 sq ft DIY project to a 10,000 sq ft commercial stamped patio. Skipping or under-applying sealer is the fastest way to turn a beautiful stamped concrete job into a callback from an unhappy client three months later when the color starts wearing off.
This is why the Professional System ships matched 5-gallon quantities of sealer alongside the Antiquing™. You're getting the right product, in the right amount, paired to your color choice — no contractor decision-making required.
⚠ The 8-Hour Rule Still Applies at Contractor Scale
Antiquing™ must dry for at least 8 hours after staining and before sealer is applied so the solvent carrier can fully off-gas. This is critical at every scale. On large jobs, plan your project schedule with the 8-hour minimum in mind — staining one day, sealing the next morning is the standard contractor approach. In cool or humid weather, allow longer than 8 hours. Sealing too soon causes sealer bonding problems or turns the sealer cloudy white, and the only fix is to strip the failed sealer and start over.
What This System Does Not Include
The Professional System does not include application tools, surface prep, or PPE. Most contractors and pros already have:
- Plastic pump sprayers (need at least 2 — one for stain, one for sealer)
- Spiked shoes for walking on wet stain and sealer
- ProClean Degreaser for surface prep
- Destiny™ Stripper for removing existing sealer or coatings (if needed)
- Safety glasses, gloves, and respirator
If you need any of these, they're sold individually:

| Product Type | Semi-transparent, solvent-based antiquing stain for concrete. |
|---|---|
| Recommended Uses | Stamped concrete driveways, patios, pool decks, walkways, and other exterior concrete. |
| Location | Exterior use only. |
| Surface Preparation | Concrete cured 28+ days, clean and dry. Remove oil, grease, curing compounds, sealers, and incompatible coatings. Profile test: water should absorb within 3–5 min; if it beads, etch or mechanically abrade and retest. May not adhere to hard-troweled/smooth surfaces. |
| Mixing | Shake/stir thoroughly before and during use. Using more than one jug, combine (“box”) all jugs and remix for uniform color. Do not thin or dilute. |
| Application Tools | Pump-up sprayer with filter removed, in circular, overlapping passes. Mop, sponge, or rag to create accents. |
| Application Temperature | Air 40–95°F (4–35°C); surface 50–85°F (10–29°C). Apply to a cool surface, out of direct sun—early evening is best. Hot or sunny surfaces can cause bubbling and hazing. |
| Coats | Apply 2 coats wet-on-wet (no drying between coats). |
| Coverage | Approximately 200 sq. ft. (18.6 m²) per gallon for two coats; varies with surface porosity and texture. |
| Re-Coat Time | Additional coats may be applied immediately, without waiting. |
| Dry Time (before sealing) | Allow the final coat to dry a minimum of 8 hours (longer in cool or humid conditions) so solvents fully evaporate. Sealing too soon can cause haze or poor adhesion. |
| Sealing | Required. Antiquing™ Stain is not a sealer—unsealed surfaces will not show true color and color can wash off. |
| Recommended Sealers | AcquaSeal™ or HydroCryl™ (water-based acrylic), or EasySeal™ (solvent-based acrylic). |
| Tool & Spill Cleanup | Xylene, before the stain dries. |
| Limitations | Won’t hide cracks, stains, blemishes, or surface irregularities. Not for interior use. Always test a small area first. |
| Ventilation & Safety | DANGER: Harmful or fatal if swallowed. Combustible. Use only with adequate ventilation; wear a mask, safety glasses, and chemical-resistant gloves. Solvent-soaked rags can self-ignite—dry flat outdoors or seal in a water-filled metal container. |
| Storage / Shelf Life | Use within 1 year of purchase. Store indoors, cool, away from direct sunlight, heat, and open flame. |
| Choice of Stain Color | Antiquing™ Stain - 5 Gallons. Yields coverage for about 1000 sq. ft. |
|---|---|
| Choice of Sealer* | EasySeal™ Solvent-base or HydroCryl™ Water-based Performance Sealer - 5 Gallon. Yields coverage for about 1000 sq. ft. |
* Customers can choose between a satin or gloss finish for the EasySeal™ sealer to tailor the final look to their preference.
