A stained walkway is one of the quickest curb-appeal wins there is — subtle, but it pulls a whole entrance together. These real before-and-after makeovers show the range, from soft, understated tones to bold artistic paths, on both poured concrete and pavers.

A paver walkway restored with Cafe Royale Portico™ stain and sealed — richer than the pavers looked when they were new.

Toning down a too-bright walkway
This customer wanted to soften the original bright color of their residential walkway. A semi-transparent Light Charcoal EasyTint™ gave a more subdued, elegant hue that complements the home’s exterior — a more welcoming entry.

A failed sidewalk, restored by a first-time DIYer
These sidewalks started pitting and fading within six months of professional installation, and the contractor wouldn’t call back. The homeowner found Direct Colors, talked it through with the consultation team, and restored the walkway herself with Cafe Royale Portico™ and EasySeal™ Satin.

20-year-old stamped sidewalks, rejuvenated
This project stripped the old, failing sealer off 20-year-old stamped sidewalks and applied fresh Charcoal Antiquing™ and a satin sealer. The rejuvenated surface now beads water like a freshly waxed car.

Faded pavers brought back with Portico™
A worn, weathered paver walkway restored with Portico™ paver stain — rich, uniform color that welcomes visitors and complements the garden’s planting.

A faded paver walkway renovated with Terracotta Portico™.
Terracotta & charcoal on a front walkway
Faded pavers transformed with terracotta and charcoal Portico™ paver stains — the terracotta warms the path while the charcoal defines its edges.

Discolored pavers, evened out
This discolored paver walkway had inconsistent color from age and weather. A combination of Charcoal and Milano Red stains evened it into a consistent, revitalized look.

Walkways as artwork
Some of these paths are pure creativity — a newly poured walkway stamped with foliage from the owner’s own garden and acid-stained in Azure Blue and English Red (a Miracle-Gro trick deepened the blue), and a stamped path revived in Cinnabar to match its original color.

A gallery of stained paths
From the earthy warmth of Cafe Royale to the energy of Cola and Yukon Gold, these walkways turn a simple route into a design feature.

Every shade of gray
Stained in antiquing grays — from soft silver to deep charcoal and eagle gray — each path shows how much character a cool tone adds to plain concrete.
