    Product Details

ColorBomb™ Colored Stamped Concrete Powder Release Agent is a specialized product designed for use in stamped concrete applications. This agent serves a dual purpose: it acts as a barrier between stamping tools and wet concrete, ensuring clean release and preventing tool adhesion, and it also provides a secondary color to the concrete surface due to its integrated iron oxide pigments. The application of ColorBomb™ as a dry shake material directly on top of concrete allows for a uniform and consistent application, crucial for achieving professional-quality stamped concrete surfaces.

    How-To Guide

    Preliminary Testing

Before using the product for your entire project, try it out on a small, hidden area of the surface you'll be working on. This will let you see how it looks and if it's the right fit for your project.

    Pre-Application

    • Ensure sufficient masking of surrounding areas to prevent contamination by airborne powder release dust
    • Equip all applicators with nuisance dust masks, goggles, and chemical-resistant gloves for safety.
    • The concrete slab should be ready for stamping with no bleed water present after the final troweling.

    Application

    1. Preparing ColorBomb™: Before broadcasting, loosen and fluff up ColorBomb™ in the pail. This can be done by hand while wearing protective gloves, as the material may have compacted during transportation.
    2. Tool Preparation: Lightly dust stamping tools with ColorBomb™ at the start of work.
    3. Broadcasting: Use a 6” mason’s brush or similar tool for efficient broadcasting. Apply ColorBomb™ in a sweeping motion evenly across the area to be stamped. Aim to only broadcast enough powder release to stay a row or two ahead of the stamping tools, avoiding clumping.
    4. Stamping: Begin stamping once the surface is set enough. Continue applying ColorBomb™ a few feet ahead of the stamping tools. Ensure the layer is thin and uniform to preserve texture detail and ensure proper imprint by the stamping tools. Do not over-apply, as excessive release can decrease detail and hinder tool imprint. Avoid troweling the material into the concrete.
    5. Excess Removal: After sufficient curing of the slab, typically a minimum of 24 hours post-stamping, carefully sweep up and contain excess powder release. This step is crucial for proper finishing and sealer adherence. Retain the release color in the recessed areas, like grout lines, for an optimal finish. Ensure masking remains in place during cleanup.

    Limitations

    • Batch Variability: The supply of specialized pigments may vary between batches. To ensure color consistency, use the same batch for the entire job or mix multiple batches together (“boxing”).

    Coverage

    • 30 lb (13.6 kg) ColorBomb™ covers approximately 800 to 1000 ft² (74.32 to 92.90 m²).
    • 15 lb (6.8 kg) typically covers about 400 to 500 ft² (37.16 to 46.45 m²).

    Clean-Up

Rinse off the remaining excess with a hose equipped with a trigger nozzle, using a soft broom to assist.

    Disposal

Dispose of unused product according to local environmental or hazardous waste regulations.

    Shelf Life and Storage

Store ColorBomb™ in a cool, dry place with the container tightly sealed. If unopened and stored properly in its original plastic bucket, its shelf life is approximately 3 years. Avoid extreme conditions.

    Maintenance

Regularly inspect the sealed surface for areas where the sealer may have become thin or worn due to traffic. It is advisable to reapply sealer in these areas as necessary. For interior surfaces, monitor and maintain wax coatings or polish, especially in high-traffic areas.
