What EasyTint™ Is (and Why It’s Not Paint)
EasyTint™ is a professional-grade, solvent-based acrylic tinted sealer with pigment dispersed throughout. Applied to clean, prepped concrete, it forms a durable protective film while the pigment delivers rich, even color — and as the solvent flashes off, the color locks into the seal. Two thin coats give full saturation and maximum protection.
Why people choose it over paint or a two-step stain-then-seal process:
- One product, one job. Color and seal happen together, cutting project time roughly in half versus staining and then sealing separately.
- Built for the outdoors. The solvent-based chemistry cures to a harder film than water-based colored sealers and stands up to UV, vehicle traffic, and freeze/thaw — ideal for driveways, high-traffic patios, stamped concrete, and commercial walkways.
- Semi-transparent, not opaque. Unlike paint, it enriches the concrete’s natural texture instead of masking it, and it won’t peel like a surface film if the concrete was prepped correctly. Rich, deep color is absolutely achievable — the darker tones in two coats can read almost solid — but “even, uniform color” isn’t the same as “hides everything”: as a semi-transparent product, EasyTint™ evens out and deepens concrete rather than covering cracks, patch repairs, or heavy stains the way opaque paint would. - Satin finish. EasyTint™ cures to a natural low-sheen satin. Want a high-gloss “wet look”? Add a clear gloss EasySeal™ topcoat over it (several projects above did exactly that).
EasyTint™ Buyer’s Guide
How do you apply EasyTint™?
Three phases: prep, apply, protect. Prep — the surface must be clean, dry, and free of any existing paint or film-forming sealer; degrease oil spots with ProClean Degreaser™ and strip old coatings with a stripper/neutralizer if present. Quick test: sprinkle water on the concrete — if it beads instead of soaking in, there’s a sealer or coating that must come off first. Apply — two thin coats with a solvent-resistant pro-grade sprayer (many DIYers back-roll to work it in), re-coating after 2–6 hours. Keep it mixed — the pigment settles to the bottom over time, so stir thoroughly, keep it agitated, and re-mix before every sprayer refill so the color stays consistent. Protect — add a clear topcoat where needed (see below).
How much EasyTint™ do I need?
Coverage is about 200 sq. ft. per gallon for the full two-coat application (varies with concrete porosity). Use the coverage calculator to size your order. Example: a 400 sq. ft. patio needs about 2 gallons.
What temperature and dry times does EasyTint™ need?
Apply between 40°F and 95°F. Dry to touch in 30–60 minutes; foot traffic 16–24 hours; vehicle traffic 48–72 hours. Plan for a few dry days — humidity and dew slow curing, and sealing too cold or too damp can cause hazing. Cleanup is with xylene.
Satin or gloss?
EasyTint™ cures to a natural satin. For a high-gloss wet look, apply a clear gloss EasySeal™ topcoat.
Do I need a clear topcoat?

Pool decks & slip resistance — important: EasyTint™ and OxiGrip™ are not mixed together. Apply EasyTint™ as the color layer, then add OxiGrip™ only in a clear solvent-based topcoat. This keeps the deck safe underfoot without dulling the color.
Tinted sealer vs. paint vs. solid stain — which should I use?
Paint sits on top and can peel; solid-color stain hides the concrete; EasyTint™ is semi-transparent — it colors and seals in one step while letting the concrete’s texture show through, for a natural, non-painted look that won’t flake when properly applied.
Tinted sealer vs. a stain plus a separate sealer — two different looks
This is the big decision, and it comes down to the finished look, not just effort. An Antiquing™ stain deposits pigment unevenly across the texture — heavier in the low spots and grout lines, lighter on the high points — which creates the mottled, variegated depth that reads as classic “stained concrete.” It’s the go-to for stamped and textured surfaces where you want dimension. The trade-off: it’s a multi-step job — you stain, let it dry, then seal separately.
EasyTint™ lays the pigment down in the sealer film, so it distributes more evenly for a cleaner, more uniform color (even, consistent color — not opaque, paint-like coverage) — great for refreshing plain, broom-finish, or blotchy/faded concrete, and for driveways and commercial surfaces where consistency matters. And because it colors and seals at once, there’s no waiting for a stain to dry before sealing.
So: want natural depth and variegation? Reach for Antiquing™ (or acid stain). Want even color and speed? EasyTint™. And you’re not locked into flat color — layering two EasyTint™ tones (a base plus a darker color worked into seams and edges) adds back some of that hand-finished dimension.
Will an EasyTint™ color look the same on my concrete?
Not exactly — and that’s expected. Because EasyTint™ is semi-transparent, the same color reads differently over gray, tan, or previously-stained concrete. Always trial-kit your actual surface first.
How long does it last, and how often do I reseal?
There’s no hard rule — it comes down to traffic and weather. Our suggestion (not required): apply a clear sealer topcoat over the color. That clear coat takes the wear, so you typically only reseal every 2–5 years depending on traffic and exposure. We lean toward the shorter end — reseal at least every 2 years — for a reason: if you let the color itself wear before recoating, the high-traffic and weather-exposed areas fade unevenly, and you’ll be fighting discoloration when you reseal. Staying ahead of it keeps the color even. For interior floors it’s even easier: apply a sacrificial layer of concrete floor wax (ProWax Polish™) and keep it up — do that and you’ll essentially never need to reseal, because the wax wears instead of the finish.
What does it cost?
About $0.40 per square foot for the EasyTint™ itself — $79.95 per gallon covering ~200 sq. ft. in two coats, and since it colors and seals in one product, that single figure covers both. That’s the product only; it doesn’t include prep/cleaning supplies, application tools, or an optional clear topcoat. Even so, coloring and sealing your own concrete for well under a dollar a square foot comes in far below a contractor stain-and-seal job.
