Stain, neutralize and seal in five steps

  1. Prep the concrete

Clean, unsealed and cured at least 28 days. Degrease with the included ProClean Degreaser™ and rinse. Sprinkle water: if it beads up instead of soaking in, etch with CitrusEtch™ first.

  2. Apply EverStain™

Spray it on with one of the included sprayers and work it in with a soft-bristle brush. The spiked shoes let you cross the wet floor without footprints.

  3. Let it react

Usually 4–24 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Some colors need longer than others.

  4. Neutralize and rinse

Apply ProClean Neutralizer™, scrub gently and rinse until the water runs clear. Let it dry completely, usually 24 hours.

  5. Seal

With the second sprayer. Two thin coats of your sealer. This is when the color pops. Indoors, ProWax Polish™ on top is optional.

Test your color first. Acid stain reacts with your concrete, so every slab colors differently. Try it on a small area, or with the Trial System, before you start.

Everything to acid stain and seal about 200 sq ft of interior or exterior concrete: 1 gallon of EverStain™ Acid Stain in your color, 1 gallon of the sealer you choose, 4 oz each of ProClean Neutralizer™ and Degreaser™, two pump sprayers, spiked shoes, safety glasses and a cleaning cloth.

Where to use
Interior floors and exterior concrete: patios, driveways and walkways. Ventilate indoors. EasySeal™ (solvent-based) goes indoors only in empty, ventilated spaces that stay vacant for a couple of days.
Coverage
About 200 sq ft. Stamped, textured or porous concrete may take a little more.
Surface prep
Clean, unsealed and porous, cured at least 28 days. If water beads up instead of soaking in, etch with CitrusEtch™ first. Acid stain can’t go over a sealer.
Application
Between 40°F and 95°F. Let the stain react 4–24 hours (reaction times by color), neutralize and rinse, let it dry, then two thin coats of sealer.
Sealer
Solvent-based EasySeal™ darkens the color and adds depth. Water-based AcquaSeal™ and HydroCryl™ don’t change the stain color.
Not included
CitrusEtch™ and ProWax Polish™. For a bigger floor, see the EverStain™ 3-Step Contractor System.

Test first. EverStain™ reacts with the concrete itself, so your slab shapes the final color. Try your colors with the EverStain™ Trial System first.

Complete Concrete Acid Stain Kit — Stain, Neutralizer & Sealer for 200 sq ft

The EverStain™ 3-Step Complete Kit has the three products needed to acid stain concrete from start to finish (1 gallon of EverStain Acid Stain in your color choice, 1 gallon of matched sealer and 4 oz of ProClean™ Neutralizer concentrate), plus ProClean Degreaser, two pump sprayers, spiked shoes, safety glasses and a cleaning cloth. Together, these cover approximately 200 square feet of standard interior or exterior concrete.

This is the most popular way to buy EverStain. Acid staining concrete requires three chemically distinct products in matched quantities — and figuring out which sealer pairs with which stain, how much neutralizer you need, and what coverage to expect from each is a barrier that keeps a lot of first-time users from getting professional results. The kit eliminates the guesswork. Pick your color, place one order, and you have everything you need to acid stain a concrete floor, patio, or other 200 sq ft project.

How to Use the 3-Step Application System

Step 1: Prep

  1. Test your concrete. Sprinkle water on the surface. If it absorbs within seconds, you're ready to stain. If it beads up, you need to etch with CitrusEtch first (sold separately).
  2. Degrease the concrete with the included ProClean Degreaser. Mix per the instructions, scrub, and rinse thoroughly.

Step 2: Stain

  1. Apply EverStain Acid Stain with one of the included sprayers. Work it into the surface with a soft-bristle brush. Use the spiked shoes to move across the wet surface without leaving footprints. Allow the reaction to develop for 4–24 hours.
  2. Neutralize with ProClean Neutralizer. Apply, scrub gently, and rinse thoroughly until the rinse water runs clear.
  3. Allow to dry completely before sealing.

Step 3: Seal

  1. Seal with the included concrete sealer using the second sprayer. This is when the color pops.
  2. Optional: Finish with ProWax Polish for interior floors (sold separately).

Full step-by-step instructions are included with the kit. For more detail, see the Acid Stain How-To Guide.
