Project Info:

  • Project Completed In: 2 day(s)
  • Estimate of Square Footage: 450 sq. ft.
  • Project Description:
We have a stamped concrete patio out back, with a fire pit.
It’s been about 5-6 years since I’ve resealed it, and it was looking neglected.
I decided to restain the patio with DC antiquing stain first
I thoroughly cleaned the concrete on a Friday.
Stained it on Saturday, 2 coats.
Then I sealed it on Sunday, again 2 coats
  • Personal Tips:
Keep the pump sprayer pressure as high as you can. The stain and sealant comes out better. Don’t be afraid to deviate some from the circular pattern of spray, as suggested. Properly quarantine the area from pets.
I used the Aztec brown DIY antiquing kit with satin easy seal. I also had left over Russet color from 2019, that I used on the perimeter of the patio. It turned out gorgeous.

After: Café Royale and Aztec Brown Antiquing Stains bring a seamless, elegant finish to the patio.

Project Info:

  • Project Completed In: 4 day(s)
  • Estimate of Square Footage: 1500 sq. ft.
  • Project Description:
This homeowner wanted to refresh and unify a large backyard patio that included both new and 10-year-old concrete. Using Direct Colors Café Royale Antiquing™ Stain for the main surface and Aztec Brown for the darker accent lines, the transformation delivered a beautiful, balanced tone that blended both areas perfectly. The project required a bit of experimentation — two coats were applied to achieve full coverage, with an extra coat used on older concrete to even out the color. After sealing, the colors came alive with a rich, natural sheen.
  • Personal Tips:
Apply at least two coats for even coverage — more may be needed on older surfaces.
Order extra stain to ensure consistent color across old and new concrete.
Don’t worry if the stain looks lighter before sealing — the color deepens beautifully once sealed./li>

From Faded to Fabulous: Multi-Color Paver Patio Makeover

his 500 sq. ft. patio transformation took just 8 days and turned a dull, poorly sealed space into a stunning backyard showpiece. Using Aztec Brown, Yukon Gold, Charcoal, and Antiquing™ Black, the homeowner created a one-of-a-kind look that now draws compliments from neighbors and friends alike.

Project Info:

  • Project Completed In: 8 day(s)
  • Estimate of Square Footage: 500 sq. ft.
  • Project Description:
Be sure to fill any cracks between the pavers before sealing. I wanted multi-colors, so I colored each one a different color. We did 2 coats of sealer. I have a bunch more pictures and videos, but the application would only submit 10. If you want more, I can email them. The patio came out amazing. We have sent 4 different people to your website after they saw our pictures on Facebook. Thank you so much—you saved our patio. The patio builder built it last year and sealed it incorrectly with garbage sealer. We spent over $9,000 on the patio, and it looked awful. We searched and searched for a solution to make it look sharp and worth the money we paid. We are so happy that we found your company. We have neighbors coming by to see the patio! Everyone is blown away by the difference.Thank you for a great product! We can’t believe how the water beads on the patio now after applying your sealer. We never had that with the inferior sealer.

Stamped Concrete Porch Restored with Rich, Realistic Color

This 195 sq. ft. stamped porch was faded and sticky from a bad sealer—until Direct Colors stepped in. With Aztec Brown and a custom color combo, the homeowner gave it rich, stone-like depth in just 5 days. “Who knew watching Bob Ross paint would come in handy someday?”

Restored stamped concrete front porch colored with Aztec Brown, Chocolate, Buff, and Cinnabar Antiquing™ Stains, sealed to a smooth satin finish.

Project Info:

  • Project Completed In: 5 day(s)
  • Estimate of Square Footage: 195 sq. ft.
  • Project Description: Our front porch was a 21 year old – stamped concrete half-circle design, that had lost all of its original color. We had tried to reseal one time, but the product we used was not compatible, and therefore would not “dry”. It felt sticky to the touch a month later in the middle of the summer. It was not a Direct Colors product.
  • Personal Tips:
If you want to use the acid stain products on your concrete, DO NOT USE MURIATIC ACID TO CLEAN. We must have missed this advice when preparing to do this project. Fortunately, Direct Colors’ Antiquing™ Stain saved the day! Since our porch was a smaller project, we were able to use multiple colors, and got amazing results. We loved being able to restore our front door entryway, which actually looks better now, than when the house was new.
Who knew that watching Bob Ross painting shows would pay off some day?
  • Direct Colors Products Used:
The base color was Chocolate Antiquing™ which was included in the kit: Chocolate Antiquing™ & EasySeal™ Satin Kit.
Then we used the Buff Antiquing Stain to make the peaks (higher areas) in the stamped concrete visually “project out”.
We then used a combination of the Cinnabar and Aztec Brown Antiquing Stains in the lower areas of the stamped concrete to provide both depth and produce a more realistic stone-like look to the concrete.

Project Info:

    • Project Completed In: 2 day(s)
    • Estimate of Square Footage: 300 sq. ft.
    • Project Description: Used Aztec Brown antique stain to add some color back to 15 year old stamped concrete. Used HC wet look water based sealer. Aztec Brown had a bit more of reddish/rouge color to it. Especially where it puddles in low areas. I kept it shook up throughout the process. I used sprayer. Would probably use nap roller next time. I liked the product, especially made in my hometown of Shawnee. Born and raised there!🙂.

      • Estimate of Square Footage: 830 sq. ft.
      • Project Description: We got a quote for $2,300 to repair, stain, and seal our stamped concrete patio. With some effort and help from Direct Colors, we saved well over $1,300 doing it ourselves—and we’re thrilled with how it turned out. We used Direct Colors’ sample kits to test out colors, then went with Aztec Brown Antiquing™ Stain and EasySeal™ Sealer for the final look. The patching compound helped fix up cracks before staining.

Stamped Patio Makeover with Aztec Brown and Maple EasyTint™

After a short-lived sealer failure, this homeowner brought their patio back to life with Aztec Brown Antiquing™ Stain and a Maple EasyTint™ top coat—this time, built to last.

Before: The stamped patio’s cheap sealer had worn off within a year
Stamped concrete patio restored with Aztec Brown stain and Maple EasyTint™ sealer, featuring a warm, glossy tone and durable finish
After: Refinished with Aztec Brown and Maple EasyTint™ for lasting color and protection.

After staining her stamped patio with Aztec Brown Antiquing™ Stain in 2023, this homeowner sealed it using a non-Direct Colors product that wore away in less than a year. Frustrated with the results, she turned to Direct Colors for expert advice.

Following their recommendations, she refreshed the surface with Aztec Brown Antiquing™ Stain to restore depth, then topped it with Maple EasyTint™ Sealer—a tinted, durable top coat that added warmth and long-lasting protection.

Now, the patio not only looks richer than before but is also protected for years to come. Lesson learned: quality products make all the difference!

Customer Tip:
“Don’t cut corners with sealer—it’s what protects all your hard work. Direct Colors sealers are worth every penny.”

Driveway & Walkway Done Right with Double Coats

This homeowner took on 1,300 sq. ft. of broom-finished concrete, using Aztec Brown, Terracotta  and EasySeal™ for a bold and uniform finish—proving two coats (and the right sprayer tip) really do make a difference.

★★★★☆ Definitely apply two coats as suggested

I ended up spraying and then back rolling with a roller to finish up 1,300 sq. ft. of driveway and sidewalk. The sealer turned out great and does exactly what it’s supposed to.

The tip on my sprayer was too small and didn’t give a good spray pattern for the EasySeal Gloss.

Added Tip:

For best results, we recommend a sprayer tip size between 0.015 and 0.019 when applying EasySeal Gloss.

Overall, I’m happy with the outcome!
