Reviving the Past: A Stamped Concrete Facelift

This 300 sq. ft. project involved reviving 15-year-old stamped concrete using Aztec Brown Antiquing™ Stain. Despite the stain’s reddish tint, shaking it continuously during the sprayer application helped achieve an even color. Although satisfied with the result, the Shawnee-native homeowner might opt for a nap roller next time. A simple, yet effective facelift!

Project Info:

  • Project Completed In: 2 day(s)
  • Estimate of Square Footage: 300 sq. ft.
  • Project Description:
Used Aztec Brown antiquing stain to add some color back to 15 year old stamped concrete. Used HC wet look water based sealer. Aztec Brown had a bit more of reddish/rouge color to it. Especially where it puddles in low areas. I kept it shook up throughout the process. I used sprayer. Would probably use nap roller next time.
I liked the product, especially made in my hometown of Shawnee. Born and raised there!🙂

From Neglected Pink to Sleek Brown

Reviving a chalky pink, neglected stamped concrete surface with Aztec Brown Antiquing™ Stain and satin EasySeal™ Kit. After consulting customer service, the decision to use Antiquing™ stain instead of EasyTint™ tinted sealer was made. Application involved a deck sprayer for the stain and light back rolling for the sealer, resulting in a dramatic and satisfying transformation.

Stamped concrete was neglected by previous owners and turned chalky pink. I ordered a few antique colors and a few tinted sealer colors I had decided on the Aztec brown tinted sealer, but after talking to customer service I was told antique stain would be my best option.

We stained a newly poured concrete patio with the easy tint (maple and aztec brown). We originally tried to use paint rollers but that was a mistake. The paint rollers absorbed a lot of the stain so we went through it quickly and ran out of the maple and had to order more. We bought a paint sprayer and that made a world of difference! It was so much easier, faster, and more uniform (see the before and after pictures). Overall things went great and we were able to save thousands of dollars doing it ourselves.
  • Personal Tips:
    Buy a paint sprayer!

    • Project Completed In: 5 day(s)
    • Estimate of Square Footage: 600 sq. ft.
    • Project Description:
I have stamped concrete that needed stripped and power-washed (this was a project of 13 years of stain and sealer from other vendors materials that needed removed), It took at least a month from being only able to work during nights and weekends and non-raining days. Otherwise I had almost a week in a 1/2 to stain and finish waiting for a sunny/clear day (we get lots of rain in Pittsburgh). I think it took a total of 5 days cause I ran out of materials and needed to re-order. and the concrete was so porous I needed three coats. Stain dried fairly quickly and sealer took two days in between to dry applying two coats.
    • Personal Tips:
Don’t be hesitate to put that third coat on to achieve your look. I got exactly what I wanted and so happy and proud. I am one person (a woman) who was able to take on this project and do it alone (never once have I lifted a gallon of stain or applied it, and if I can do it, you can too!

  • Project Completed In: 10 day(s)
  • Estimate of Square Footage: 150 sq. ft.
  • Project Description:
Our home is 16 years old – the patio is stamped concrete. After years of getting quotes from contractors I found direct colors and decided to give it a try. After some practice areas – I picked my colors and painted each square to keep the “stone” look. Followed with a sealer. It looks amazing!
  • Personal Tips:
We did extra coats to give deeper color. And never judge a finished color until the sealer is applied.
  • Direct Colors Products Used:

  • Project Description:
The patio builder built it last year and sealed incorrectly with a garbage sealer. We spent over $9,000 on the patio and it looked awful. We searched and searched for a solution to make it look sharp and worth the money we paid. We are so happy we found your company. We have neighbors coming by to see the patio! Everyone is blown away by the difference. Thank you for a great product! We can’t believe how the water beads on the patio now after applying your sealer. We never had that with the inferior sealer
  • Personal Tips:
Be sure to fill any cracks between pavers before sealing. I wanted multi-colors so  I colored each one a different color. we did 2 coats of sealer.
