Rustic Concrete Countertops: Transforming a Small Cabin Kitchen
I recently moved into a small rustic cabin and wanted to give my kitchen a rustic feel as well. After researching various options, I decided to go with concrete countertops and found concrete overlay to be the perfect solution. The project was substantial as I had to move the location of my kitchen.
I used a plywood base topped with hardy backer boards, which I secured with screws and liquid nails. I applied a skim coat of Beachfront Buff integrally colored concrete overlay, and then stained it with Cola and Malayan Buff EverStain acid stains.
I finished it off with a coat of your EasySeal satin sealer.
I received a lot of compliments on the finished project and will be using your products for my foyer floor next. I want to thank Direct Colors for the support during my project and for making it easy for a 57-year-old woman to complete it on her own.
The Great Debate: Painting or Refinishing a Formica Countertop?
I recently completed a one-day project to re-finish my bathroom vanity Formica countertops using Direct Colors’ Ash color concrete overlay and satin EasySealc sealer. I had previously tried painting them, but the concrete finish looks much better.
I recently completed a one-day project to re-finish my bathroom vanity Formica countertops using Direct Colors’ Ash color concrete overlay and satin EasySealc sealer. I had previously tried painting them, but the concrete finish looks much better.
As a beginner, I found it helpful to work on small patches at a time and mix smaller amounts to avoid the concrete overlay from drying out before I could finish the current batch. I am very happy with the final result and recommend using concrete overlay for anyone looking to update their Formica countertops

Revamping the Kitchen: From Tiles to Titanium
Introducing our latest renovation project, where we transformed a dated kitchen into a modern and sleek space by applying a vertical overlay with titanium pigment over the tiled backsplash and using white pearl concrete overlay to update the Formica countertops.
Through this project, we learned the importance of proper preparation and attention to detail in ensuring a seamless and professional finish. We also utilized a variety of products from Direct Colors, including the white concrete overlay, pearl white pigment, titanium pigment and EasySeal satin sealer, as well as Surecrete XS-327 matte sealer for the kitchen counter island.
Custom Concrete Countertop with ColorWave
If you’re in need of a new countertop and want to try something a little different, a custom poured in place concrete countertop may be just the thing for you! That’s exactly what our customers did, and the result is absolutely stunning.
This project took four days to complete, and covered an estimated 23 square feet. To achieve the desired look, our customers worked in layers using ColorWave white, steel gray, and iron gray from Direct Colors. They also used water to help the colors blend together for a unique finish.
Once they were happy with the look, they sealed the countertop with a Trinic topical sealer to give it a durable and long-lasting finish.
If you’re considering a custom concrete countertop for your own home, our customers recommend working in layers and using water to help the colors blend together. And don’t forget to seal it with a high-quality product for lasting results. Happy DIY-ing!
DIY Concrete Countertops: A Seasonal Home Upgrade with Acid Stained Finishes
We decided to upgrade the kitchen in our seasonal home by creating our own poured in place concrete countertops. Through much trial and error, testing different concrete mixtures and colors, we finally achieved the rustic and unique look we were going for with acid stains.
The process was not without challenges, but through research, patience, and practice, we were able to achieve the desired outcome. For the countertops, we used acid stain in Coffee Brown, Desert Amber, and Seagrass to create a mottled, natural-looking finish.
We were grateful for the support and assistance provided by Direct Colors throughout the project, and highly recommend their products and customer service. Our personal tip would be to do small test pieces before embarking on a larger project to get a better understanding of the colors and techniques that work best for you.
